Made with care: Norcross woman’s bakery caters to those with food allergies

Cake in the Box (photo courtesy of Gwinnett Daily Post)On top of our grand opening this past Saturday, I was able to sit down with Deanna Allen from the Gwinnett Daily Post for an article about why I started Cake in the Box.

It was an exciting interview and I was still a bit nervous.  Thank you Deanna and GDP for stopping by!

During a trip to the Appalachian town of Helen last year, Trenise Grill’s two children asked for candy apples they saw in one of the shops there. After stopping to watch an employee roll an apple in the bright red candy coating, the Norcross resident noticed a problem: nuts on the rolling board near the coating.

I am proud of you baby girl. You have worked hard for this and I wish you all the success the Lord has for you. Congrats to you.

  • I just got finished reading the article in the Gwinnett Herald about your new bakery. My daughter has only had one dairy free cake from one bakery, but other than that they are hard to find. She is allergic to dairy and nuts so she can never eat at other kids birthday cakes. I am so excited to hear that someone has finally come up with this idea. I usually make the birthday cakes using specialty pans for my family. I am glad to know you are here as an alternative. A sista too! Yeah!

It’s great to see Trenise spotlighted in the news. She made a roller coaster cake for my son’s 4th birthday on Sunday and all the kids loved it (especially my son). Not only was it creative and cute the taste was fabulous!
